Twenty-seven weeks

Another fun week, as I am still out of work and home wit my favorite little guy.  We did a lot this week and had tons of fun.  We cleaned my mom's house, finished the pantry project, made Valentine's gifts, and went to Hayley's birthday party at the zoo.

We made these cute little cards that I framed for Valentine's Day.  I painted Nolan's foot red and we stamped his little feeters on the paper.  After adding the date and his name, we framed them.  Super cute.

Wednesday we cleaned my mom's house and Nolan was just rolling all over the place.  He is able to push himself to move but he can only move backward. Poor kid, hopefully he will start moving forward soon.

Thursday was the big day, SIX months old.  Six months, how in the world.... Sadly, when Nolan hits another milestone, that day is spent at the doctors for shots.  Yes, we had a six month visit and he received three shots and one drinkable vaccine.  We decided to get him the flu shot since his cousin just had the flu, better to be safe than sorry.  Nolan didn't do very good with the shots this time.  He was so tired and he screamed for about an hour straight starting around 2:00.  He is growing so big though.  He was 16lbs 4oz and was 26 inches in length.  His head was still measuring 17 inches round.  The doctor said that Nolan could start to eat fruits and veggies with breakfast, introduce a lunch, and with dinner.  We also received a prescription for the urologist so they can look at Nolan's circ (cause I still have concerns about it). The nurse also said that Nolan should start on fluoride water (only since the drops were on back order).  I accepted the idea but haven't given Nolan any of the water yet.

Friday night we went out to dinner with my mom.  After an hour of a scream match with Nolan, he found his happy place and we were able to go.  I think he was just still feeling some of the shots and not feeling too well.

Saturday we spent much of the day at the zoo for Hayley's birthday.  It was a bit chilly, but it was fun.  Nolan liked the bison and the donkey.  Mommy and Daddy liked the giraffe.

Sunday Daddy headed back to work for overtime and Mommy and Nolan did housework.  And Monday we spent the day doing wash and going to the grocery store.

Nolan has started to put his arm around my neck when I pick him up if he is crying, like he is giving me a hug.  So cute.  He has also realized that the more he cries the more attention he gets.  Nolan decided on Wednesday that he was done with eating.  He got progressively worse throughout the week to the point that he was only eating a few spoonfuls of cereal and fruit/veggies.  He was also really grabbing his ears, but he just had them checked at the doctors.

I started making homemade food for Nolan.  Once we get past this "not eating" phase, I will be introducing the homemade food.  I have already made sweet potatoes, brown rice, oatmeal, and apples.

Nolan is really into the "Where is Nolan" game.  He will cover his face with something and wait for me to scream "where is Nolan?"  He also still loves his baths and is super ticklish (under the arms, neck, and on his sides).  He loves and must hold my shirt when he eats and goes to sleep.

The best moment of all this week.... Nolan has said "mama".  And he continues to say it.  He mostly does it when he is tired or mad or wants to be held.  It melts my heart.

Here are moments from the week:

"Sounds like Michael Jackson, right?"

Just chillin'

"I will get this dog"

"Panda, your my best friend."

Six Months

This was Nolan's six month photo taken right before we left to go to the doctor's.  The rest of the day was horrible as he had three shots and one drinkable vaccine.  The poor kid was in so much pain.

Oh, I can't believe he is already half a year old.

"Yes, I am six months old!"

Twenty-six weeks

Sniffle, sniffle... this was me laying in bed the other night as I looked at how my tiny little baby is growing up so fast.  I just can't believe that he is already almost 6 months old.

He has conquered rolling over, to the point that he can maneuver across the living room floor.  He can turn himself, as needed, to get to his toys.  It will only be a matter of time until he is crawling.  He still loves holding onto something while he eats or sleeps, usually it's my shirt.  He loves playing with the dogs and can even occupy himself while watching Cody for several minutes.  He watches TV and his favorite shows are Backyardigans, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Wonder Pets.

This week Nolan has really started blowing/spitting.  Nothing like feeding your child and having them blow/spit everything in their mouth back at you.  I honestly think he does it like he is talking, but I could be so wrong.  He has come to understand that when he is done with something he just needs to start screeching and Mom will come to the rescue.  Yes, so this means that there is a lot of screeching that goes on in our house.

We had to get the 6-9 month clothing out of the attic this week, not because Nolan needs them for the standard clothing, but because he needs the stretch suits to sleep in.  The poor kiddo has been wearing the 3-6 month sleepers and he can barley stretch his legs out.  Oh, and diapers, yea we had to move up a size in them too.  I thought it was just the Huggies and Luvs cause they are a bit smaller, but  no, the Pampers size 2's are too small too.  So my little tiny butt baby is now in a size 3 diaper.

This week Nolan ate sweet potatoes (which is liked) and squash (which he LOVED).  Nolan had a minor cold this week which started with him gagging on the mucus resulting in throw up in bed, on the chair, and on the living room carpet.  Fun!

We didn't really do much outside of the house this week, but in the house we cleaned, organized, and finished the pantry closet.  The first snowfall of 2012 took place on Friday night into Saturday morning.  We were supposed to have Hayley's birthday at the zoo, but it was cancelled due to the weather.  Upon waking up on Saturday, there was a blanket of about 2-3 inches of snow.  We wanted to take Nolan out to get a picture in it, but with him being sick and how cold it was it didn't make much sense to me.

Here are some pictures from the week:
"So that's how this works."

"You got me with Flaps again "
The best way to watch television... upside down.  Not sure why he wanted to do this, but he had to be upside down.

Watching TV... of course with Flaps near his side

"Say what?!"

"Just take the picture so I can continue playing"

Cereal face

Lounging with Mommy

"See, aren't these socks awesome?"

"Yes, I did finally make it over to this dog toy that you told me not to touch."

Cutie

"Don't worry Mom, I have it under control."

Sleeping on the job with his foot propped up just chillin'.

Twenty-five weeks

Another week older... man time needs to slow down.  Before we know it, Nolan will be six months old.

This week was fun.  Nolan has developed so much.  He is doing so much more.  He rolls over all the time now.  Once he figured out that rolling gets him to move around on the floor, he can't stop doing it.  He is really trying to crawl and he can scoot a bit while laying on his belly to move to wear he needs to be to roll over to get his toys.  He is really laughing now and he loves the dogs.  He started really acknowledging the dogs the other day and now he loves when the come near him and laughs and smiles non-stop.

Nolan has this thing that he does in the car when he is tired, he starts making this noise but what he really wants is someone to sing to him.  If I start singing, he is asleep in less than a minute... so cute.

He loves getting a bath, something he has loves since he was a baby.  I undress him and stand him up on the ledge of the tub.  He gets so excited, smiles and bends at his knees and does his little "naked baby" dance.  Oh my gosh, it is so cute!!!

Nolan sleeps in his crib for all naps and does fine.  In the next week or so, we are going to try to get him in his crib at nighttime.

Nolan still loves his jumperoo, so much so, that several times this week he has fallen asleep while jumping.

This week we made chocolate covered pretzels, asked Daddy to start converting the closet in the kitchen so we had more room for baby food, and finally put the Winnie the Pooh quote on the wall in the nursery.

Nolan had baby food for the first time this week, bananas were his first food.  He didn't like them at first, but after a few bites mixed in with his cereal, he was a fan.  Then just last night he had peaches in his cereal.  He definitely didn't like them.  He tollerated them for about five minutes and then he decided that was enough.  I can say, I love the fact that he is starting to eat real food development wise, but I do not love the smell coming from his diapers now.

We went shopping with my Mom yesterday and I was changing a poop diaper, I did nothing but gag.  Oh, the joys of being a parent!!!  LOL

Here are a few photos from the week:

Twenty-four weeks

Oh how this week went by so fast.  There was just so much going on with my Mommom's funeral services that life continued to move while everything else was slowed down.  Nolan sadly had to attend his first viewing and funeral services this week.  He came out to the grave also although he slept through the grave services.

My dad came down this week so Nolan was able to spend some time with his Gramps.  After the funeral services and the lunch, I took Brian home and Nolan and I returned back to my Mom's house.  Gramps was there too, so Nolan was able to play with him for a while.

We didn't do very much this week other than the viewing and funeral, that felt like enough for several weeks.  Nolan was great during everything.  Several family members even commented on how they never even heard him at the funeral home.

At this point, Nolan loves his cereal.  He knows that he gets some in the morning and at night.  He used to get cereal about an hour after waking up in the morning and around 8:30 at night, but with the services for my Mommom, the night feeding was bumped to 7:00.  Now Nolan cries to eat at 7:00 every night, so 7:00 it is.  LOL

We did go to the park this week.  Yes, the park in January in PA, imagine that.  The weather is crazy and it was in the mid 50's so we were park bound on Saturday.  Of course, like most trips to the park, Nolan fell asleep in the car and didn't wake up until we arrived home from the park.  Nothing like not even knowing that we went to the park at all.

Nolan loves to move, jump, and talk.  He is constantly moving and loves his jumparoo (thank you Aunt Heather!).  He gets that thing jumping so fast, I even asked Brian if he thought that the jumparoo could cause Shaken Baby Syndrome.  (Yes, I was serious because he jumps that hard and fast in it.)  Nolan doesn't mind laying on his belly as much anymore and it seems like only time until he is really rolling around.  I put him on the floor while I ran to the bathroom and when I came out he was on his belly, so I know he can roll when he wants to.

Here are a few photos from the week:

"And in the right corner weighing 16 pounds is Nolan the Great!"

"Look, I am getting myself ready to crawl!  Knees up, hands out, I just can't push yet."
